When Children Grieve Program
This program is designed for adults to help children deal with death, divorce, pet loss, moving and other losses. This is a program designed for the adult to assist the child. We will not be teaching the child, but will be teaching the adult to work with the child. It is an educational program with directions and guidelines that insure we achieve the goal of helping you help your children in completing their relationship to the pain, isolation and loneliness caused by a significant emotional loss of any kind.
This is a 6 week program, meeting once a week for 2 hours. There will be reading assignments from the book, When Children Grieve, by the founders of The Grief Recovery Method®, John W. James and Russell Friedman and weekly assignments. The book, When Children Grieve will be handed out at the first class. Each class builds on the previous one. The key to your success in this program hinges on your willingness to apply yourself to the weekly homework assignments, which are designed to help you move beyond loss.
As in the Group Program, we have guidelines to preserve our groups safety and harmony. It is essential that there be no judgment or evaluation of each other. Great care is taken to not compare our pain and losses with each other. Grievers are not broken, therefore they don't need to be fixed. They don't need to be analyzed, criticized or judged. They need to be listened to with dignity and respect. You may choose to not share in the group, but you will be paired with a partner who provides you with a listener, a heart with ears. All that is shared is held in the strictest confidence.
The fee for this program is $250.00. This program is for adults of children grieving, not for the child themselves. Contact Dr. Krysstine for more information.
